Louise  Goodwin - Chairman and Training

Louise has been Chairman of High Fen Riding Club since 2003 and was a member for 2-3 years before that.

I work full time as a Practice Manager at a doctor’s surgery in Colchester but in my spare time I am out competing at Horse Trials, Show jumping, Dressage (if I really have to!) and Riding Club Events. I have regularly been selected to compete for the High Fen RC Teams and I have competed at all of the BRC Championships on my horses Busta and Woody.

Romany Foster  - Vice-Chairman

Romany has been a member of High Fen Riding Club for over ten years, joining the committee back in 1998, initially to start a training programme for the Club. She is now responsible for all the mailings members receive. Romany is Show Secretary for The Tendring Hundred Show, a local agricultural show, a full-time job which takes up much of her time!   In her spare time she competes her coloured horse, Wigwam, competing for the Club at Show Jumping and Horse Trials.

Maddie Thompson - Treasurer, Secretary and Web Manager

Maddie has been a committee member since 1992,  becoming Treasurer the following year and adding the posts of secretary, ODE scorer and web supremo at various points since then. She used to be a dressage queen but these days she is a happy hacker with Bob the cob; as he is very much more photogenic than she is, he prefers to be shown solo!

Gloria Outten - Dressage Organiser and Team Manager: Dressage, Style Jumping, Riding Test and Combined Training

Gloria has been a High Fen member for approx 30 years and a committee member for many of them. She is a B.H.S.A.I and also a list 5 Dressage judge. She has worked with horses for many years and now works at Kiln Saddlery in Colchester.

In her free time she enjoys helping people with their dressage, gardening and going racing with her partner David.

Carol Flower - Show Secretary

Carol is the show secretary for all shows except the show jumping. She has been a committee member for many years and has often competed in teams and championships for the club.  She is currently working with her new young horse Fierappel and looking forward later to doing affiliated dressage.

Kay Howard - Membership Secretary

Kay has been on the club committee for a couple of years now and is currently membership secretary. She is hoping to have her young horse backed soon and  is  looking forward to riding him next year. Kay  is also busy looking after baby son Harrison and also working for an Equine Science degree.

Liz Warren - Press & Publicity

This is my second year on the committee as P&P Officer.

I compete at unaffiliated dressage and have represented High Fen at the area 14 dressage.  Murphy qualified for the novice freestyle to music dressage this year and we hope to attend the BRC Music Championships in October. I hope to affiliate Murphy before the end of the year. Here we are having won a Championship at  Norton Heath!

Eileen Shadford - Team Manager: ODE, Show Jumping, Hunter Trials

Eileen has been on the committee for many years and is the team manager for eventer trials, show jumping and ODE teams. She competes in all disciplines on her mare Lily and has attended championship shows which are always a great weekend away. She is constantly looking for new team members to compete for the club at every level.

Louise Clover - Show Jumping Organiser

A committee member for 15 years, Louise organises the show jumping shows and the 2009 AGM dinner. A hugely experienced rider who has evented up to Advanced level, she regularly competes for the club in all disciplines on her homebred horses. Louise works full time and is a qualified BHSAI. In her spare time she enjoys introducing beginners to the sport and teaches at 3 local Pony Clubs, even teaching her partner Duncan to ride!

Sarah Skillen - One Day Event Organiser

This is my first year on the committee and am looking forward to tackling the task of organizing the ODE.  I’ve been riding for longer than I can remember and had been looking forward to eventing Izzie before she was injured in the Summer.  Now I am just helping at as many BE events as possible and working hard so that I can find another horse to play with, while Izzie remains a pet! I will be looking for lots of help for the ODE so please feel free to get in touch.
