Dressage Show Report - 27th March

On Sunday 27 March High Fen Riding Club ran their first outdoor Dressage show of 2010. The new venue of Pete Tye Equestrian made us extremely welcome and the show field held up well despite rain during the previous week and showers on the day.

The early preliminary classes were well attended, with members Lucy Browning Smith winning the members section in the first class and Victoria Littlewood taking 1st place in the next class with her grey show hunter Brocket.

The non members section of class one was won by Julia Brightwell with her horse Q8 of Bellhouse and Kerry Lynch reversed her fortunes winning class two on Kevin beating Julia into 2nd place.

Class 3, the Novice 30 test saw Victoria riding her more experienced horse Marz into 1st place in the members section and Shirley Haxell winning the non members section with Blueberry Hill.

Class 4 was the Novice test 24, new for 2010.  A win for Fiona Gordon Clarke riding her own horse Mulberry in the members section, also going on to win class 5.  Shirley Haxell took her second 1st place of the competition in the non members section.

Natalie Daines won the non members section of class 5 riding Marlow with a very respectable test.

Thank you to Pete Tye Equestrian, High Fen organisers and our judges for making a super day of competition.

High Fen would also like to thank all of the organisers, sponsors and competitors who supported the December charity show jumping at Wix Equestrian Centre.  £350.00 has been donated to St Helena Hospice.

Some good scores achieved but the team was unfortunately unplaced.

Very well done to Cher and Don Marcus who won their arena with a score of 191.

Open team 5th: Victoria Littlewood, Heather Delicata, Sally Hayes and Lucy Browning-Smith.

It’s good to have Heather back riding in teams again after a break and very well done to Lucy and Torness for winning their Elementary arena with a score of 199.

There were some very good results in Dressage to Music (DTM) with  Sarah Motion 2nd at Elementary, Cher East 2nd at Novice and Jo Tootal and Seal 1st.

Pairs Dressage to Music 1st: I think it was a first for High Fen to enter a pairs DTM; Cher East and Jo Tootal put together a stunning test with Seal and Don Marcus, the horses worked very happily together and Jo and Cher’s smiles got bigger as the test progressed, so am pleased to report they finished with a deserving Win.

Well done girls.
